About Me

I am Amy Howie, a senior psychologist, supervisor, and mentor, with over two decades of diverse experience in governmental, non-governmental, and private practice roles. As a Psychology Board-approved supervisor, I offer individual and group supervision to provisionally registered psychologists, registered psychologists, and other professionals, including counsellors and educators. My expertise extends to facilitating group supervision for counselling teams within non-government organisations and mentoring psychologists, counsellors, and various other professionals. Additionally, I have successfully conducted online workshops and group supervision sessions, covering a spectrum of topics.
Since 2013, I have operated my own home-based private practice, Live Well Now Psychology and Health Solutions Pty Ltd, located in Shailer Park, on the Southside of Brisbane, Queensland. In addition to providing supervision, I specialise in counselling clients spanning ages 10 years to 85 years, who present with a wide range of mental health concerns. My client base includes those covered by Mental Health Treatment Plans, Work Cover, NDIS, Employee Assistance Programs, private health, Redress Scheme, and other insurance schemes. Whether at my practice or via telehealth, I engage with clients and professionals to provide comprehensive and accessible psychological and health support.
I specialise in anxiety disorders, trauma, chronic pain, adjustment disorders and life transitions, but as a general psychologist I have treated most mental health issues over the course of my career. Prior to starting in private practice, I worked as an Adolescent and Family Counsellor, Juvenile Justice Counsellor, Child Sexual Assault Counsellor and General Psychologist.

Supervisee Testimonials:
“I was supervised by Amy throughout my 4+2 pathway and found her supervision to be incredibly supportive and grounding. She is highly knowledgeable and created a space that felt safe, thoughtful, and respectful, where I could reflect openly and develop confidence in my clinical work. Amy balanced guidance with encouragement of independent thinking, and her feedback was always practical, considered, and delivered with warmth. I felt genuinely supported as a developing psychologist, not just assessed. I would highly recommend her to any provisional psychologist seeking high-quality, ethical, and nurturing supervision.” – Sabeena
“Amy is an outstanding supervisor who provided steady, thoughtful guidance during my internship. She has a real ability to make complex or high-pressure situations feel manageable, offering clear and practical input that builds confidence and skill. Her feedback was always balanced and useful, and I continue to use the strategies she taught me in my work with clients, as well as in my own reflection and self-care. I continue to seek Amy’s input when needed.” – Rebecca
“Warm, genuine and professional supervisor with extensive knowledge in client presentations, therapy models and ethical dilemmas. As an early career psychologist with many questions and self-doubts, Amy has helped me to organise my thoughts more succinctly, make suitable treatment plans and recognise my strengths.” – Ronan
“I was privileged and incredibly fortunate to have Amy as my primary supervisor during my 4+2 internship program. I heavily relied on her exceptional organisation, reliability and punctuality that created a consistent and safe learning space. She provided genuine support at every stage of my professional development, and offered guidance that was both clinically rigorous and practical (and, frankly, reassuring during more panicked moments of my internship). Amy’s knowledge and experience combined with her down-to-earth and approachable style truly set her supervision apart. A significant part of my success is directly attributable to her expertise, guidance and support. I am sincerely grateful for her mentoring and would highly recommend Amy as a supervisor to any provisional psychologist looking for high-quality, supportive and effective supervision.” – Lidija
